    In Autumn they are dug by spades. My brother picks them from the earth. The little one's are called "porrings", and are seperated from the big ones and put into the barn. The big ones are put inn pits by themselves.
    The potatoes that grow best in this district are "Kerr pinks" and "Champions". I am told that Mrs Reilly always used potatoe starch. She used to make a lot of boxty bread and then used the starch for shirts.
