  1. Of course the only method of lighting the people have in this locality is paraffin Lamps and candles. Yet the people consider this great luxury in comparison with the "dip" candle which was the only means of lighting the older people remember from their child-hood days. These rushes were peeled and steeped in melted fat, and only used when necessity for these arose.
