    Long ago no blacksmith did any work on a Friday as people thought it unlucky because our Lord died on that day. Whit Sunday and Whit Monday are counted unlucky days. It is an ancient belief that anyone who goes near water on White Sunday are liable to be drowned. Any horse beast foaled on Whit Sunday
