    Where the primrose grow
    And the bright waters flow
    And the thrush piping out at the dawn
    The hawthorn white oft filled with delight
    My young heart as I went to roam
    In those beautiful bowers all covered with flowers
    Of Clononagh, Clononagh my home.

    The song of the thrush in the moss covered bush
    My fancy did often allure
    As I romped over brae, over gorse craig and spray
    To look for birds nests on the moor
    When then I found the wee birds on the ground
    Id watch them as a mother would do
    Again and again in sunshine and rain
    I'd see them each day till the flew
    III
    But times have now changed
    And the fields that I ranged
