  1. The Potato Crop.
    Potatoes are sown in our farm in about an acre of ground. If pigs, turkeys, or geese, are kept more potatoes must be sown.
    The men of the house prepare the ground. The ground is ploughed in January, then harrowed, and then cultivated with a machine which goes deeper than a harrow. It is harrowed twice and cultivated three times. Often this the land is rolled with a roller to make the earth really fine. Then the drills are opened, a double-mould
