In those days people got up before sunrise and finished their work before sunset. The children used to sit in a ring in the middle of the floor, and their potatoes were put in a crandy and each child had a saucepan of milk. the mother, father, and eldest son and daughter sat at the table.
The used rye bread and boxty bread. Rye bread was made from rye meal and water. The boxty bread was made of grated raw potatoes and flour. Long ago people used meat of the deer which was called venison. They buried in the ground and according as they required it they opened the hole in the ground. The people used salted meat too.
