   Here is an account of some of the Fairy Forts in this district. There was an old Fairy Fort on Bridget Doyle's land at Garrenstackle and it was told by old people that the fairies used to have games of hurling and football at twelve o'clock at night outside the fort. There was an old man with a hump on his back passing by there one night and he called in to see the game and the fairy king came up to him and asked him would he like to have the hump removed from his back. He said "Oh yes sir, if you please, I would be delighted." Then the fairy king used
