  1. 1. Stye. Get ten gooseberry thorns throw the tenth across your right shoulder. Point the other nine to the stye in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
    2. Make the sign of the cross on eye for nine mornings with a gold wedding ring. The stye will be gone by the ninth day.
    3. Prick stye with nine gooseberry thorns nine times - throw away the thorns, when they are rotten the stye will be gone.
    4. Sore eye. Rub a loch-a-leech to it.
    5. Cold in eyes - Bathe with cold black tea.
