  1. Some of the people who live beside Lough Gowna saw water-horses out eating grass beside the Lake. It was early in the morning and the people went down to see them, but they jumped into the water before anybody had time to get within their reach.
    About fifty years ago a very large black dog used to travel from Cool which is beside Castlepollard in the Co. Westmeath to the village of Abbey which is situated in the parish of Abbeylara, Co. Longford. He was called the "Cool-Trotter" and there was no one who was out late at night but
