A Fairy Fort
25th February, 1938. There is a "Fairy Fort" situated a few hundred yards on the right hand side from the Moat of Granard, in the town - land of Teemore, in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford.
In olden days there was a castle built there, and when the Danes came to Ireland they burned it, and the ruins of it still remain. The old people say that since then the fairies were seen dancing in the ring of the old castle, the people never went there after sunset, as it is said that fairies would take them away and leave the back in the morning.
The following story is told in connection with it,- "An old woman lived near the "Fort" and she had a baby, and she used to leave it out - side the door in a cradle of bulrushes while she went to the bog with her husband's dinner. One day when she returned home, instead of her own baby she found a different child very contrary, that had been left by the "Wee Folk," and(continues on next page)- Collector
