    "I am, said the man, "but my mother has no money & I want to leave her some before I go." "Will you wait till I have this shoe made?" "I will", said the devil. The man then asked the devil to give the shoe a stroke of the sledge, but he could not let it go until the man gave him leave. So the man gave him leave & the devil had to give him seven years more. When seven years more had passed the devil came for him again, and he says- "me boy you are coming with me this time." "I am, said the man, but before I go I have to put on a set of shoes for a man & there will be people coming in here & I don't want them to see you here." "Sit down there on that old chair" & the devil sat down & the man had him tricked again. He could not rise until the man gave him leave. So the man gave him leave to rise & the devil had to give him
