  1. There was a man one time and he had a fort on his farm. There came a very hard year and he made up his mind to cut the bushes in it for firewood. He was in a neighbour's house one night and he asked one of the people of the house to come and help him at the work. The man told him that he would. So the next morning they started. When they came near the fort they saw a fairy coming out of the fort and walking towards them. When he was about 50 yards away from them the fairy put up his hand and the two men were there and then stuck to the ground. The fairy came walking up to them and he asked them where they were going and they told him. Then the fairy told them that if they would never have a night's comfort in their homes. The man then asked the fairy what he would do
