    There was once a priest who was going on a sick call.

    There was once a priest who was going on a sick call. He would not go unless the people of the house would promise to leave him home again because the priests had to walk in those days.
    When they were going back they had to cross a river. One of the men took the priest on his back to bring him across.
    When he was half way across he began to laugh. Then the priest said "the devil is on you John or you will let me fall into the river". Then the man said "begobs father if he is he wont be long on me. Then
