- There is a lake convenient to where I live called Lough na breac which means lake of the trout.
It was so called because no fish except trout will live in it as the water is spring.
Long ago the old people used to fish in Lough - na- breac with a rod and line using worms as bait and used to catch plenty of fish, but of late years strangers from different parts of the country come to fish and they have introduced fly - fishing.
There are two different methods of fly-fishing carried on in Lough-na-breac. One is to use a rod and by means of the rod the fly is cast out on the surface of the water and gently pulled along.
