A noted man named Brian owned this townland some time and that is why it is called Brianstown. There are two in this townland over seventy Joe Corcoran Brianstown, Longford and George Moorehead Brianstown Longford there were more houses in old times than now. There are a lot of houses in ruins now. Some people emigrated to other countries. This townland is not mentioned in song.
