    I am going to sing the praise of a fair maid
    And its not against my will
    She is the pride of Westmeath County
    And the Rose of Russagh Hill

    First I saw this lovely dame
    The truth that I will tell
    It was an summer's evening
    Down by the church yard well
    I was compelled to title her
    The Rose of Russagh Hill
    III
    I went home and lay to sleep and could not rest
    I dreamed that I was going to die and make my will
    I gladly willed my holding's
    To the Rose of Russagh Hill
