    Saturdays flitting makes a short sitting. Friday is the luckiest day to begin to work or to flit to a house.
    8. If you had not the turf cut before the 20th of June it is said that you will never have it cut.
    9. If a person were going to get married he should get married on a Wednesday - this is the best day of all.
    10. People in old times seldom got married on Friday or Saturday because they are unlucky days. The rhyme of the week goes as follows:
    Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday is the best day of all, Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses and Saturday no day at all.
    11. The butchers never kill beasts on Good Friday.
    12. It is said that mangolds would be late sown after the 8th of May.
    13. It was a custom to have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. This is kept up yet.
    14. People would never give salt to anyone on the first of May because if they did they
