6. Another cure for warts, is to get a black snail without a shall, and rub it on the wart, and stick the snail on a thorn, and when the snail withers, the wart is supposed to wither also.

7. Another cure for warts, is the water the blacksmyth uses to cool the red irons. You have to go early in the morning for three mornings, and wash the warts in it, before the blacksmith disturbs the water.
The rusty water cures them.
8. The Rose
The townland of knocklough is situated about four miles from Oldcastle, and in it is a small lake, which has the cure of the rose. The rose is a big red lump resembling a boil, but very much larger.
