    thorn from our Saviour's brow. A drop of the Sacred Blood fell on the robin's breast & reddened it
    the following birds are common in the district:-
    Crow, pigeon, hawk, pheasant, Partridge, waterhen, curlew, jackdaw, magpie, Thrush, blackbird, lark, house-sparrow, chaffinch, bluetit, stares, white throat, robin, wagtail, wren, golden crested wren, hedge sparrow, yellow hammer, green linnet, linnet, missel thrush
    Swallows & cuckoos are summer visitors - the cuckoo arrives in April & the Swallow about a month afterwards
    The corncrake I have been told does not - go away - it changes colour & is here through the winter
