  1. There is a well in a field in the townland of Carntown which the people call the "holy well". Cures have been wrought it is said by drinking water from the well. It is called the Shouney well. No pilgrimages are - or ever have been - made to it. No thorn bush grows near and no rags or pictures or anything like that are to be seen near it.
