Occupied some disused ruin in district
Each pupil brought sod of turf under his arm each morning for fire.
Seating very primitive, consisted mostly of large flat stones found conveniently.
Many pupils fixed and marked a stone for themselves to be theirs during school term.
As they were improvoing plank took the place of stones. In some cases and fathers supplied a plank for use of his own children, taking it home at end of school term - preserved till next assembling of School.
Writing done on slates or flags. Pupils made their own pencils from nearest gravel pit, provided the gravel was "pencil gravel."
Ink made from blackberries. Teacher paid a penny per pupil per week and kept and supported one day per week or fortnight - according to no. of pupils in school - in homes of pupils
