  1. Timothy Brennan of Portnard was a swift runner in his young days. He used to run after hares and catch them. He used to run the hundred yards in ten seconds. He was able to run the 220 yards in 26 seconds and the 440 yards in 54 seconds. He always won these races. He won a lot of prizes. Some of them were gold and silver watches and clocks, a silver cup and jug and bowl. He won half a dozen gold cups. He was at his best in the year 1898.
