  1. There is a well in this district near Rockmills called St Nichola's Well. Near this well flows the river Funcheon. Many people go fishing in the river in the evenings and at night.
One night a man was fishing near the well and it was very late about twelve o'clock or so. When he was very near the Well he heard alot of noise of buckets as if a person was filling water from the well with a bucket. He could not see anyone and then he knew it was a ghost.
He grew very frightened and the dog he had with him ran and ran until he got home. This man had a "nervous break down" a few days afterwards and he was taken to a mental hospital and which in some time afterwards caused his death.
