  1. In the year 1848 a "Hedge School was held in Bunmona, Milford. Mr. John Creagh was the teacher. He taught in the open-air in summer and in farmers' houses in the winter. Irish was not taught.

  2. The Monabricka "Hedge" school was on the side of the road in the townland of Monabricka, Milford. It was in a small, thatched house. The teacher, Mr. Creagh, was a native of Milford & he owned the house in which the school was held. He taught English & history. The children were seated on chairs. Irish was not taught & it was not popular. He taught in the school every other week.

  3. Mr. John Watson Milford, Ráth Luirc remembers Mr. Creagh who taught in the Monabricka "Hedge-School". Mr. Creagh was father-in-law to Mr. Pat Hennigan, Monabricka, Milford, Ráth Luirc. Additional information will be forwarded in a few days. Mr. Watson's father was taught by Mr. Creagh.
