About sixty years ago an old bróg fair was held annually in Ballineen. The place where the fair was held was called "The Mountain". Every year large numbers of people attended the fair. People from all over Munster attended this fair. At night a great feast and a dance were held. All the old ballads and songs were sung at the dance. At that fair a pair of boots could be bought for three shillings and sixpence. Michael O'Driscoll of Convent Hill, Bandon who is now working in the Convent told me that he attended that bróg fair.
