  1. Long ago there was a man named John Buckley living in Baurleigh. He used always meet a dog late at night near a certain cross. He would never pass the cross late at night without somebody with him. On one occasion it happened that he was coming home about twelve o'clock in the night. He was riding a pony. The following morning he was found dead near the same cross. It is said that it was the dog was the cause of his death because he was never seen thereafter.
