  1. In the townland of Balllyvelone Enniskean there is a holy well called St. Patrick's well. On St. Patrick's Day thousands of people pay "rounds" to the well; from early morning till late at night people can be seen going to and fro. Prayers are said at the well and relics are left behind e.g.
    coins, buttons, matches, shoe laces and nails and bottles of water are taken away. Children tried to empty the well which is in a hole in a rock near a river but no sooner had they got to the bottom of the well than it filled again.
