  1. When a piece of rainbow is seen it is a sign of bad weather. The piece of rainbow is called "Madra Gaoithe". When the rocks are seen shining brightly it is a sign of rain. When the sky is seen red to the west in the evening it is a sign of that fine weather would follow. When the sun rises red in the morning it is a sign that rain would follow. Wind from the south-east brings rain and when it is raining from that point it stays raining longer than from any other point. When the birds are heard singing in the morning when it is raining it is said that the day would clear up.
