  1. The Wren Song

The "wran", the "wran", the king of all birds, St Stephen's day she was caught in the furge

The "wran," the "wran," the king of all birds,
St Stephen's day she was caught in the furze,
Although she is little her family is great,
Rise up landlady and give us a treat,
If you fill us of the small it wont agree with the wren-boys at all,
But if you fill us of the best I hope in heaven your soul will rest,
As I went up through *Leaca Bhuidhe I spied my wran on a holly tree,
Up with my cubic and broke her knee,
And I brought her here to visit ye,
Up with the kettle and down with the pan,
Give us our answer and let us be gone.
