  1. A spirit was supposed to kill a man on the old road to Bantry. She had the form of a woman, and appeared on the road near Ducavaglough Par. of Schull. There is a Leacht consisting of a heap of stones, made by passer-by throwing a stone on the spot where he was found dead. The road is known as the leact. Local inhabitants used avoid the place after nightfall, and one family there would not pass except they had some steel implement in their hand.
