when it is going to rain. When the country is covered with white fog it is a sign of rainy weather. When the sea is rough it is a sign of bad weather and when the roaring of the sea is heard it is a sign of rain; this roaring is called an outhaul. When the sea is calm it is a sign of fine weather. The gnats fly around before it rains. The crickets sing in the hearths before it rains.
