    dwelling house now stands. It was a small thatched cottage. The teacher was Mr. Hunt. The school did not belong to himself. It was owned by Mike Gallaher and his wife Sally Williams. Mike was a shoemaker. He allowed one room to Hunt to enable him to carry on his work as teacher. The garden outside this school was known as Sally's garden. It was named after the lady of the house - Sally.
    Another, and a fourth school was held at "Tigh na Púcaí", where the Sheeps Head National School now stands. The teacher was Taed Mc Carthy, who was nicknamed "Tadhg na Gealaighe". He was a great "Irishian". He wrote a book and also some Irish poems. He used speak Irish to his pupils but he also spoke English. He did his teaching wholy through English because the pupils understood that language better than Irish. Taed was from Kaolkil and he used lodge with friends in Cahir.
    The school fee was 2/6 per quarter. The pupils used not bring the money to school. At the end of every quarter the teacher used go from house to house to collect it himself. There were no seats in the schools. Each pupil provided himself with a stone to sit upon. "Goose-quills" served as pens. The pupils bought "nut-calls" and
