  1. My friend Dan Croinín, who's seen many a summer,
In troth we'll say forty since he first read his primer,
Has searched all the country, in fact spent his life,
In hope he could get a large fortune and wife
The bloom of his summer is now faded by,
T'would be his best plan, just to lie down and die
But Im sure 'twouldn't please him to give up his notion
So we'll give him a month to look out for promotion

The next who came in was a lad named Jer Jumper
A friend to a lass, and no foe to a bumper
