  1. Tim Keating was our local poet. He emigrated from Aghadown to America as a young man Tim Keating still lives in America He is about a hundred years and is blind. He wrote "The Valley of Awnagore" which describes the battle that was fought in that glen between Coolbán and Gurrane Hill. The O'Driscoll clan of Kilcoe Castle fought the O'Donovans of Castle Donovan the former being victorious. There was much brutality and bloodshed.
