  1. In olden times shops were very uncommon especially throughout the country. The people used bring their produce to the nearest market every week and they used to get a great price for it. They had firkins in which they used to store up butter and sell it.
    Long ago there were huxters and pedlars and some rag men going about the country. The rag men used gather all sorts of old rags and get paper made out of them.
    Tea men used to go through the country with carts selling tea.
    Some time ago the people used get credit for "tick" so it was called.
