    around it. When the sky is a circle covered with stars it is a sign of frost.
    When cattle begin to run of a fine summer's day it is a sign of good weather. If the hens are picking themselves it is a sign of rain or if the cat sits with his back to the fire. When hills or mountains seen to come near it is a sign of rain or storm or when the water in a lake seems to get black is another bad sign. A fog of a summer's morning is a sign of a fine day, but a fog in winter is a sign of frost. When insects creep out on land it is a sign of bad weather or when there are blue blazes in the fire and when spiders creep out on the wall is a sign of dampness. When the smoke comes out straight from the chimney it is a sign of calm weather.
