  1. In olden times Boxty bread, potato bread and oatmeal bread were made in our homes.
    Bread was made from wheat grown at home.
    Potato cake is made from potatoes, flour and milk.
    Boxty bread was made long ago from grated potatoes and Caraway seed.
    Oatmeal bread was made from oatmeal and milk mixed together. Sometimes milk was used, but when people were very poor water had to take its place.
    Long ago people only made bread once a week.
    The people put marks on top of the bread to keep it from cracking. The bread was baked in pot ovens over a fire on
