  2. In the famine years many people were working for the Public Works in the Rower. It is said that two men died from hunger, in the townland, Kilconly. During the same years dead bodies were as plenty as fishes in the river Barrow, and numbers of people left The Rower for America and Canada. Many of them are in very responsible and high positions in America to-day.
