  2. Thomas Murphy, Lanaght, The Rower, was a great weight thrower. He was able to throw the half hundred weight twenty three feet six inches. He had about thirty first prizes and as many second prizes. He defeated the great weight thrower, James Power, Ballmountain, Co. Carlow.
