    Nuair a raghadsa tigh a tabhairne
    Olfaidh mé mo dhóthain
    Leannann mó bhean mé agus deineann sí seo dhíom
    An dá riaghail a chuirfead í agus ní leanfad níosa
    mhó í
    Agus beidh bean eile agam gac baile beag do geobaidh mé

    Díolfad-sa mo háta mo chosóg is mo léine
    Is beid mé an Showman ar costaí na h-Éireann
    Níl aon tigh tabhairne na caraiste comhail le h-Éirinn
    A's olfaidh mé ............................

    Má gheobadh-sa bás amáireach fágaim 'em h-udhacht mé
    Cur idtig a' tabhairne go sásta fé bfurma
    Mar chloisim ceól am chaint agus na cuagarnaí á bhualad
    Ba bhinne liom an glór san na Ceól binn na cuaiche

    English Version

    (I)
    When I go to a public house I drink both night an day there
    My wife she follows me and let me to vexation
    To the dickens now I pitch her (?) and no longer will I please her
    I'll have a purty girl in every town I face to

    (II)
    I'll sell my old hat my coat and my waistcoat
    And I'll travel round the world my wages to earn
    There's not a public house all round the nation
    but I'll drink drink a health o' peace to the company round the table.
