  1. The Lord of Dunkerron went to bathe one day. He, being a good swimmer, he was in the habit of going a good distance from the shore. One day when he was very far out he was seized upon by a Mermaid and drowned. This happened at three o'clock in the evening.
Every evening after this he (the Lord of Dunkerron) used pop up his head and shout "Hello! Hello!" One day a passer by became annoyed by this shouting and he shouted back, "The d- choke you!" No sound was ever heard from the Lord of Dunkerron since.
