There was an old man long ago. His wife kept his pants well patched. When she died he married again. His second wife was so lazy that when his pants was torn she only gathered the holes together and tied it with a cord. When he saw the pants tied with the cord he said may the Lord have mercy on patch upon patch, but bad luck to the tie hole.

There was another man who pretended to have bad sight. He wanted to get the blind pension. He went to the doctor and the doctor said "you haven't bad sight". The man said "do you see that peg on the wall". "I do " said the doctor. "Well I don't see that at all" said the man.
