  1. John Breen of Killeagh was a labouring man. He was employed by a small farmer who lived on the mountain outside Castleisland. The farmer had a very small house. There was but one appartment in it. The first night John went there, there was a cow sick in the house and she was tied to the door. John slept on a bed of straw near the fire. The woman of the house was sitting on a chair near the fire minding the cow. The man of the house was asleep upon the table. John could not sleep. During the night the woman said to him "what good are you John Breen why don't you tell me a story. John was annoyed and he said "I have not any story to tell but I will have a story to tell in the next house I will go to.
