  1. No one in this district ever saw a Leipreachan and those who heard of one say that he was a small man dressed in red clothes and was a shoe-maker. He was supposed to have lots of gold which he got for the work he did for the fairies. The Leipreachan was regarded as a friendly being & supposed to be very helpful to those who liked him.
    The old people never heard of a mermaid appearing in this district.
