  1. December the 4th was the date of the year,
    That evening was sunny and frosty and clear,
    The hounds of Corcoghan to Leck did repair,
    To indulge in the pastime of hunting the hare.

    Thank Finlay our leader the hunt did begin,
    He beat every rush, bush, whitethorn and whin,
    The beagles gave voice as they scented the lair,
    And sweet was the sound on the calm evening air.
