    They would not put out ashes on May Day on November nor on New Year's Day. The people would not throw out dirty water on New Year's Day until they would bring in clean water. They would not throw out dirty water after sunset.
    They would not let anyone bring out a coal out of a fire until he would replace it with a sod of turf.
    They would not begin new work on Saturday because they were afraid that that it never would be finished
    They would not change from one house to another on any day except on Mondays and Thursdays.
    The people long ago believed that if they were going on a journey and met a woman especially one with red hair that they were unlucky.
    They believed that black cats were lucky and they used hand horse shoes over the door for good luck.
