  1. Here I lay my body down to sleep
To God I pray my soul to keep
There are four corners on my bed
There are four angels there spread
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
God bless me on this bed I lie on.
If any evil thing came to trouble me,
O Blessed Virgin Mary, waken me.
Lord be the flower, Mary the branch,
Lord have mercy on me now
    And at my dying hour.
I lay my body down to sleep
I pray to God my soul to keep
And if I die before I wake
I pray to God my soul to take.
