  1. Travelling folk still come to our district, but not as often as they used long ago.
    They are very poor, and they sell small articles such as boot laces, pins, needles, and books.
    The people used to buy these things from them.
    They used to make some of these things themselves, while they bought the rest in shops.
    These travellers were generally welcomed.
    They remain no longer than a night.
    They used to sleep in the dwelling house.
    They used have no food with them, and the alm's they would accept were tea, sugar flour and porridge.
