  1. In former times there was a gentle man who had a servant in his employment time rolled on and he nearly became the master so much so as that he killed his master and buried him in the cellar.
    Then time rolled on and this house was haunted day and night with a rumbling noise like thunder so the rest of the family had to leave and build another Mansion.
    In these days there were men called Poor Scholars travelling through this country.
    In the meantime one of them happened to come that way and asked for shelter and he was directed to the haunted house where he was supplied with good food and a fire.
    Before the hour of twelve o clock he heard the noise upstairs and the heavy tramping coming down.
