- Long ago in Ireland there was a terrible plague known as the famine, and this is how it happened.
There came a terrible disease on the potatoes known as the blight which is very common to us now, but as that was at first, and there was no remedy or no destroyer for it, it became very rare and the people starved in thousands and died.
The rick people used to "greg" the poor people but through time they had their share of it.
